Big Read : The Wheel of Time.

The Wheel of Time. 14 books. If you read fantasy, you probably have heard of the series.

It has long been one of the two big series that I intended to read – the other being, of course, Malazan. The main reason I picked up WoT earlier is that I just felt like some good old fantasy stuff where I wouldn’t have to struggle through pages and pages of stuff before understanding what is happening. And also the feeling that I can enjoy Malazan after WoT, but not vice versa. This may be just in my head though.

Of course, there’s the dark shadow of the legendarily boring three books towards the end before Sanderson picked up the mantle (another reason I chose WoT), but I’m pretty sure I’ll make it through, since I won’t have to wait years in between books.

I sure hope I enjoy the ride. And you are welcome to ride along. Apart from the regular review for each of the books, I also intend to post spoiler-ey ramblings every week or so about my progress with the series. Kind of like Tor’s Wheel of Time reread. I would have loved to read that as I go, but unfortunately it includes spoilers for all the books, so that’s no good for me. So I’ll be doing my own set of posts. And you’re welcome to read along with me if you, like me, have been meaning to read the series.

Edit: This post will also serve as the index for all the review/reading posts.
